COURSE INFORMATION

INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Swim :open water swim in Lake Neshonoc . Water temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. Wet suits are permitted. Swim caps are mandatory and will be provided in your race packet. Swimmers will swim in waves of 50 people or less. Due to limited room on the beach, athletes will be asked to stay in the holding area until their wave is called. Swim start is on Swarthout Beach and is a point to point swim with the exit being the Swarthout boat landing. Intermediate swim distance is .9 mile.


Bike : Helmet numbers are mandatory and will be provided in your race packets. Drafting is NOT allowed in triathlons. Drafting officials will be patrolling the courses and will be issuing penalties according to USAT guidelines.  Intermediate bike distance is 24 miles.

 Run :the course is a loop with Intermediate triathletes making 2 loops. A runner’s lane will be clearly marked with cones and flags - runners are required to stay in the lanes designated for runners. Runners will exit the transition area on the east end and turn left onto a grassy path between the Neshonoc Sports building and the park. The grassy path is approximately 100 yards and will come out onto Driftwood St . Runners will turn right and follow to Lewis Street and turn left. Right turn on to Mark St. for 1 block then a left on to Tilson St. to the turnaround. Follow Tilson St. back to Mark St. and turn right and follow Mark Street straight to Driftwood St . Runners will follow Driftwood back around past the grassy path and start the 2nd loop. After the 2nd loop has been made runners will turn onto the grassy path from Driftwood and head back into the park to the finish line.  Intermediate run distance is 6.2 miles (10K).

Aid Stations :

There will be water and Gatorade available at the following locations for the sprint distance:

•  swim exit
• Russlan Coulee Road (bike course)
•  grassy path & Driftwood St. (run course)
•  Mark St. & Tilson St. (run course)

Transition Area :All stages of the triathlon will start and finish in the one transition are located at Swarthout Park . The swim exit is about 200 yards from the transition are with a paved road between the swim exit and the grassy transition area. Bike racks will be provided and athletes will be assigned locations according to their waves. Absolutely NO spectators are allowed in the transition area .
