Wellness Center Staff: Part-Time Positions 

We are seeking employees who are motivated to assist our members in reaching their fitness goals.

We are currently looking for part-time staff for our wellness center at the Houser Y and the Dahl Y. These staff will help support the Y’s cause and our role in the community as a leader in Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. 

 

These are part-time positions working 3-4 hour shifts 2-4 times per week. Free adult Y membership included dependent on the number of hours worked weekly.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enforcing rules and guidelines for the wellness center
  • Assist members to correctly use equipment
  • Spot members while using equipment when necessary 


 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • A background in fitness, strength training, physical education, recreation or a related field
  • The ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds
  • CPR/First Aid CPR Certification

Aquatics Coordinator:  Full-Time Non-Exempt 

At the La Crosse Area Family YMCA, we believe that every child should know the life-saving skills of swimming and that every community resident should have the opportunity to experience the joy and well-being that water activities can bring. To accomplish this, our Aquatics Coordinator will work side-by-side with our Houser Aquatics Director, their staff team, and our community to create a welcoming pool environment for all.

We are seeking a highly motivated team member to support our Aquatics Director at our YMCA-Houser branch in Onalaska, WI. This position’s time will be split between administrative work supporting the overall Aquatics Department and instructing swim lessons and lifeguarding. This is a full-time non-exempt position with a full benefits package.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in overseeing the safety of all aquatics programming
  • Assist in the scheduling of pool space for all pool-related activities
  • Assist in the supervision of lifeguards and swim lesson/water safety instructors

 

 
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Professional CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Guest Service Representatives Part-Time-Dahl Y-2 Openings

Primary Duties:

  • Greet all members in a friendly, welcoming, and respectful manner.
  • Build relationships by using names and initiating conversations with all members, staff, volunteers and guests.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the financial information systems and financial activities of the Y. This position oversees the business office team including information technology. This is a full time, exempt position with a full benefits package including a free Y membership.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Ensure that financial activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish financial objectives
  • Implement annual plans and budgets
  • Prepare reporting and analysis of operating results 
  • Advise the CEO and the Board of Directors on general financial matters and financial strategies
 

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field; CPA desired but not required; 5+ years’ experience in business, accounting or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of general business matters required including budget development, financial reporting, cash management, business taxes, banking, debt, financing instruments and payroll
  • Supervisory experience

  • Knowledge regarding the basic principles of group exercise, including strength training, cardiovascular fitness, heart rate and perceived exertion scales, and flexibility training
  • Ability to teach a well planned group exercise class on own
  • Ability to spot and correct incorrect form use by participants
  • Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid is also required
