Arts & Humanities Internship
Are you passionate about the arts and want to increase your knowledge of arts administration and programming? The Y offers high quality arts programming with educated instructors in a fun atmosphere. Programs include dance, martial arts, music, and fine arts. Our Arts Intern will assist with planning & implementing special events including national Y Arts Week, Martial Arts Tournament, and Music and Dance recitals. Other responsibilities include volunteer recruitment, records management, member communication, promotion, and implementing Y-USA resources into programs.
The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a degree program in management, communications, or other applicable field of study. Candidates should be energetic, self-directed, organized, have strong communication skills. An interest in building relationships with others and creating a welcoming environment is essential.
This is an unpaid part-time internship working 10-20 hours per week a varying schedule.

Graphic Design Internship
Majors: Graphic Design, Web Design, Marketing
Duration: Semester or Full Year. Part Time (15-20) or Full Time (35-40).
Join a cause-driven organization and help make a positive impact in our community as the YMCA Graphic Design Intern. Responsibilities include creating digital and print ads, large print posters, interior signage, social media graphics, website graphics, posters/flyers for all Y departments and more. A focus of the content created will be impact/story driven, helping our community reach their health and wellness goals.
Candidates should have a background in Graphic Design, including experience with the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign.
This is an unpaid internship with flexible working hours, potentially working some weekend events. Start date will vary based on semester and can be a part-time or full-time internship that is a semester or full year in length. Human Resources Internship-Spring 2018
The La Crosse Area Family YMCA is currently looking for a Human Resources Intern to assist with the Human Resources Department. Candidates will gain experience working for a non-profit organization and learning the day to day duties within an HR department. We will work together to help the candidate get the experience they need within their field. Candidates must be going to school for Human Resources or a related field, have database management, record keeping, and Microsoft Office experience. Candidates must have excellent communication skills. This is an unpaid internship but you will gain work and leadership experience. Information Technology Internship
Majors: IT-Computer Support, IT-Network Systems, IT-Database Duration: Semester or Full Year. Part Time (12-20hrs).
Join a cause-driven organization and help make a positive impact in our community as the YMCA IT Intern. Responsibilities include assisting with break/fix resolution, new computer deployment, new user setup, imaging, network infrastructure install, end user training, AV equipment support, and phone system changes for all Y departments and more. Our IT Department oversees three Y facilities and 600+ employees. You will gain experience in all areas of Information Technology.Candidates should have a background in Information Technology, be ready to impact the community, and be willing to learn.

Marketing & Social Media Internship
The Y is looking for a cause-driven leader with a passion to serve others, better the community and make a positive impact. If you feel compelled to give back and support others, consider joining our Marketing & Communication team! Responsibilities include assisting the La Crosse Area Family YMCA in communicating important events and information to members via a monthly eNewsletter, updating content on the Y’s website, creating posters and flyers using Microsoft Publisher and assisting Y Directors with their marketing needs. Managing the social media pages and developing additional pages on some of the newest platforms. This is an unpaid internship with flexible working hours, potentially working some weekend events. Start date will vary based on semester and can be a part-time or full-time internship that can be a semester or full year in length. Teen Center Internship
Engage youth while attending drop-in hours, providing outreach, tutoring, teaching specific skills such as art or music lessons, and/or other special projects as arranged. Additional duties as determined by intern supervisor and intern. Students in the majors of Psychology and Human & Social Services are encouraged to apply. School Age Program Internship
At the Y we strengthen community through youth development because we believe that a community is stronger when all children can discover and achieve healthy lifestyles. In our school age program you will be part of a nurturing and caring staff team that is there to help youth learn, grow, and thrive in a healthy environment by providing physical activity opportunities and healthy eating options. As the school age intern you will act as the program lead responsible for facilitating the implementation of the daily agenda for all Kids Day Off, Hamilton Intersession, and Early Release Days. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing a detailed program schedule for these programs which will include acquiring and organizing all materials necessary for the successful operation of all program dates. Candidates should be going to school for education, rec. management or a related field. Other requirements include excellent communication, experience with program development or event planning, knowledge of school age children’s development and a valid driver’s license. Community/Special Event Internship
The Community/Special Event Intern shall be responsible for the delivery and execution of event management, marketing and providing excellent service to for our members, volunteers, sponsors and participants. Daily tasks and responsibilities include designing posters & flyers, creating bulletin boards, sending emails to participants, updating and maintain website/registration site, recruit volunteers and analyze post-event satisfaction surveys. The Community/Special Events Intern will understand character development as the chief mission of the YMCA and personally exhibit a commitment to the goal in all YMCA operations. Payroll Internship-Spring 2018
The La Crosse Area Family YMCA is currently looking for a payroll intern to assist our payroll specialist. Candidates will gain experience working for a non-profit organization and learn the day-to-day duties within a payroll & business office department. We will work together to help the candidate get the experience they need within their field. Candidates must be going to school for Human Resources, Accounting or a related field, have database management, record keeping, and Microsoft Office experience. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and a high level of confidentiality. This is an unpaid internship but you will gain work and leadership experience. Youth Sports Internship
Coordinate the Spring 3-on-3 Basketball Classic and assist the Youth & Family Director with many different youth sports programs. Background in recreation and coaching experience preferred.

Wellness Center Internship
The Wellness Center Intern will be responsible for daily administrative tasks within the Wellness Center, along with teaching exercise fundamentals to various age populations in a classroom format. The intern will also be responsible for program marketing of current programs along with new programs. The Wellness Center Intern will gain skills in leadership; communication both oral and written; organizational skills; and exercise prescription and testing. The Fitness Intern will be responsible for daily administrative tasks within the fitness departments, working alongside the fitness directors. Assist with program marketing of current classes.
