Inclusion & Adaptive

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

The La Crosse Area Family YMCA’s mission is putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for ALL. We believe everyone regardless of ability level has the right to enjoy recreational opportunities and that is why Inclusion and Adaptive programs exist here at the Y. Every individual deserves the opportunity to grow and thrive. We are driven to provide that opportunity for children and adults with disabilities. Qualified volunteers and staff are trained to support and encourage each participant in these adaptive programs. We focus on participant’s needs, strengths, and adapting the activities to ensure that everyone feels included!

NEW participants registered for Inclusion and Adaptive Programs are required to complete the Participant Care Form before the start of their registered program. Please click the link below.

Camp is a summertime staple, a place where abilities are discovered, independence tested, lifelong friendships born, and cherished memories made. Sometimes for children and adults with disabilities, and their parents or caregivers, finding a fully accessible, adequately staffed camp can be difficult.

Our accessible and barrier-free No Boundaries Camp offers activities ranging from sports and fitness, aquatics, music, arts and crafts, gymnastics, daily living skills, and so much more. Here at the Y, we recognize and celebrate the individual strengths, skills, and abilities that each of our participants shares with us. The goal is to provide opportunities for community integration and to build independent living skills, social skills, and communication skills and to promote a healthy lifestyle. We look forward to seeing you at camp!

SUMMER- Adaptive Water Ski

All Locations
6/16/23 - 8/10/23
VIEW

The River City Water Ski Show Team is committed to bringing the joy of water skiing to as many people as possible. In 2015, we hosted our first adaptive ski clinic with the assistance of some instructors from Wisconsin Dells who brought the necessary equipment with them. Since then we have our own crew of volunteers and instructors and, in partnership with the North American Squirrel Association (Nasa), we now have three adaptive sit-skis to use for these events. Part of Nasa’s mission is to help the physically challenged enjoy recreational activities, so the partnership with River City is a great fit.

The smiles and squeals of joy from participants are something you have to see to truly appreciate! They LOVE it!

There are two clinics each summer that are FREE for all participants. The team’s adaptive sit-skis have adjustable seats to accommodate adaptive skiers of all different heights, sizes, and abilities.
