JANUARY

January's focus is Happiness/Mental Well-being!

Research (click on word for more information) shows that the ability to be happier is relatively within your own control. Not only that, but there are things you can do that are scientifically proven to boost happiness. And while it’s completely natural to experience a wide range of emotions, working on your mental health is a worthwhile cause. In short, a happier you is a healthier you.

During January, there are 2 options to participate in Y Your Wellness Matters programs.

1. Wellness Challenge

2. Physical Activity Tracking Challenge

Wellness Challenge:

When it comes to boosting your mental well-being, different things work for different people.

This month's challenge, Paths to Positivity, involves choosing one path to positivity to focus on to help you live a happier, healthier life:

Connection      Mindfulness        Purpose

Hopefully, the path you choose will provide you with skills to use throughout the year, not just in January.

Steps to complete the challenge:

  1. Read through the strategies attached to this email. Pick the one that is right for you! On each strategy document, you may click on the underlined blue text to link to more information.
  2. Beginning January 4, practice one or more of the strategies each week. Complete the log during your journey.
  3. OPTIONAL: Complete the Subjective Happiness Scale survey before practicing strategies and at the end of the month after practicing strategies.
  4. Submit your completed Paths to Positivity Log at https://www.laxymca.org/employee-wellness by February 5th to be entered in the drawing for choosing items that will help you maintain Paths to Positivity throughout the year.
  5. Team Competition:  You have been assigned to a team. See your team by using the following link:   https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rX7X18kmDEbfGg5d7Zx_dY5Md2sL9gwx4_gsTf7_-hs/edit?usp=sharing                                                                                  The team with the highest percentage of participation in the Paths to Positivity challenge will earn a pizza party for their team! Encourage your teammates to participate to earn that pizza party!

Physical Activity Tracking Challenge:

Track your physical activity minutes during January. If you reach the required goal, submit your minutes at https://www.laxymca.org/employee-wellness by February 5th to be entered in the drawing to earn a meal with a coworker.
